LEINOS SERVICE LIFE

Interior walls and ceilings can go without repainting for a very long time (up to 30 years). The wear and tear on these surfaces is minimal. Occasionally, the kitchen and bathroom walls may need to be cleaned, and in such cases, refreshing the coating will be necessary as per the visible wear and tear.

On average, the exterior coating needs to be renewed every 5-7 years. The oil remains on the surface without peeling or flaking, but to maintain proper wood protection, an additional layer needs to be applied. During usage, the degree of gloss may reduce due to abrasive loads. Dust and sand particles carried by the wind can “polish” the walls. The wear and tear depend on the strength of the winds in your area. As for color change caused by sunlight, Art. 260 Oil Varnish will retain the original color for up to 7 years, while Art. 850 Weatherproof Paint lasts a minimum of 10 years. Untinted formulas can withstand 2-3 years as they already contain UV protection additives by default.

We recommend checking the condition of the coating at least once every 7 years. The coating on the southern, sun-exposed side may penetrate the wood more intensely than on the northern side. If you experience strong winds in your area, the shine of the coating may weaken on the windward side. Wind carries dust and sand, which act as abrasives on the walls. If you notice uneven or general wear and tear, simply apply a thin layer of the same type of coating that was originally used on the house. Cleaning and sanding are not necessary in this case.

To maintain cleanliness of the floors, regular sweeping and vacuuming are sufficient. For wet cleaning, add a wood cleaning agent to the water. Wipe the floors with a slightly damp cloth and then dry them thoroughly.

Localized floor refreshing can be done by yourself. If, for example, the floor in the corridor is more worn out in the center than near the walls, you only need to refresh that area. There is no need to move furniture and free up the entire space. Simply apply one layer of the same coating that was initially used on the floor. You can apply it with a cloth. You won’t notice any boundaries between the coated and uncoated parts of the floor. For example, the parquet floor at the “Ostankino” museum, which is a work of art, has been kept in good condition for a hundred years thanks to periodic wax coating. Rain, snow, sunlight, and frost have a negative impact on outdoor wooden surfaces, especially horizontal ones like floors and decking.

Repair works on outdoor floors depend on the degree of wear and are recommended to be treated at least once a year. Applying a single layer of oil is sufficient for this.

The degree of wax and oil gloss can vary: matte, silky-matte, semi-matte, semi-gloss, glossy. It is easiest to care for matte or silky-matte finishes, where neither grease nor scratches are visible on the surface. Semi-gloss and glossy finishes enhance the representation of the room but require frequent use of special cleaning agents and systematic cleaning, as dirt and debris are most noticeable on glossy surfaces.

Furniture care involves locally applying oil to worn areas. Before application, the surface should be cleaned with non-aggressive cleaning agents and rinsed with water. Apply the oil with a cloth, in a thin layer.
